Best Blocks Shiraz 2019
On the palate, I loved the intensity of this wine. The fruit flavours were ripe and balanced beautifully with some savoury notes and a soft tannin structure. I thought the wine was simply delicious to sip on, and it had a great length. It ticked all the boxes and really hit the spot!

The Miles from Nowhere Best Blocks Chardonnay 2020 is simply delicious. With its rich and creamy mouthfeel and flavours of nectarine and apricot balanced by toasty and nutty flavours, there is so much to unpack in this wine. It is the sort of wine you keep going back for more of. I haven’t had many Margaret River Chardonnays but if they are all like this then sign me up!

Best Blocks Shiraz 2019
Miles from Nowhere is the new brand from industry veteran Franklin Tate, formerly of Evans and Tate. This Margaret River shiraz is quite Rhone in style, perhaps no surprise with French winemaker Frederique Perrin (ex-Cape Mentelle) at the helm. Think mixed red berry fruits, classy French oak and smidge of black pepper. Stylish with a little bit of ripe swagger.

I recently recieved some samples of Miles from Nowhere winery, a range called Best Blocks. Miles from Nowhere not only alludes to the geographical remoteness of the vineyard in Margaret River, but also in recognition of the owners forebears who arrived in Australia some 100 years ago from the Ukraine, bewildered by what they were confronted with in their new home country, and feeling every bit Miles from Nowhere. I sampled the 2019 Best Blocks Shiraz. It had a gorgeously rich nose of dark plum, blueberries and chocolate. In the mouth it is all ripe fruit flavours like dark cherry, with soft tannins making it very approachable.

Ah- Margaret River you've done it again -another brilliant wine- the Miles From Nowhere 'BEST BLOCKS' 2020 Chardonnay- Divine toasty, buttery aromas on the bouquet accompanying fresh peaches. Smashingly tasty palate with superb balance between crisp acidity and creaminess making it a JOY TO BEHOLD- and it will evolve even further over the next few years.

Loved the Miles From Nowhere 'BEST BLOCKS' 2019 #margaretriver #cabernetsauvignon it has vibrant purple hues, an elegant bouquet of red fruit, plums & a hint of spice. Divine palate with lashings of flavour, well rounded with a tight grippy yet lingering finish. OH YUM!!!!!! #ChooseAustralianWine

Miles From Nowhere Chardonnay 2018
This wine is ultra extroverted and bursting with aromas of green pepper, grass, lemon and white spice. On the palate is mighty lick of acidity and a slightly chalky texture

Best Blocks Chardonnay 2020- 91/100
Displays many of the appealing varietal characteristics of chardonnay. The aromas have a crunchy quince-like influence through the nectarine and zippy citrus. The palate has a creamy lemon curd and brioche richness that finishes with slightly savoury character.

Best Blocks Shiraz 2019- 92/100
An elegantly structured shiraz displaying the poise and beauty of a roller season. A mix of dark plummy and lighter blue fruits on the nose with a combination of cocoa and chocolate and balanced with dried herbs showing a thyme and rosemary factor. Grainy and slightly gravelly tannins.

Best Blocks Cabernet Sauvignon 2019- 90/100
A precise and slightly sinewy cabernet reflecting the cool 2019 vintage. Bay leaf and black olive nuances on the nose with a little swipe of brick dust. The palate is sinewy and linear with a tight pack of oak, tannin and fruit. Still tight and will evolve in the medium term.
